Feedback Thoughts

We had to read a couple of articles about feedback. the two I read were " a fixed mindset could be holding  you back" and " silence the critical voices in your head "

The first article " A Fixed Mindset Could Be Holding You Back " was quite interesting its similar to the growth mindset blog ive previously written. The article talks about how our self esteem is shaped by the words used to encourage our learning and how this shapes our views in the future. overly praising children' achievement's can lead to the individual developing a " fixed mindset".

having a fixed mindset means they perceive their abilities as something they either have or they don't whereas someone with a growth mindset takes it as a challenge and knows that they can expand on their abilities and there is no  restriction to how much you can learn.

Someone with a fixed mindset can learn to have a growth mindset with time by changing how they perceive things and changing how they deal with certain things such as challenges that arise during work.

In my opinion I think everyone is a mixture of both mindsets to a certain degree, when we become comfortable with the environment we have created in our lives we tend to become more of a fixed mindset

person but when we start to get out of our comfort zone that's where people tend to either have a more growth mindset than others but everyone can overcome this a little at a time.

Have a read of this great article A fixed mindset could be holding you back

The second article I read has been my favourite so far " silence the critical voices in your head "

The article goes through a person called Rajeev and how he fixated on a negative comment he had got rather than the multiple positive comments he received.

I think this is very true about everyone, we could get 99 compliments and 1 horrible one and we would focus on  that horrible comment about ourselves rather than the 99 compliments we have gotten.

This article is empowering and such a good read that I recommend everyone to have a look at. Everyone tends to focus on our negative sides and think if we fix these we will be better but neglect our strength's and build on those positives just as much.

here's the article silence the critical voices in your head
