Game Vision Statement

" River Raft " Is a brand new exciting game which will keep you on your toes. This game is an obstacle course which takes place on a river raft. The twists and turns in this game will make you go dizzy. Will you be able to defeat the River Raft Slide ?

The objective of this game is to navigate your player through the river raft slide to safety. However along the way there will be a series of obstacles to avoid as they will either make the game a lot more difficult or help your journey. The longer you stay in the game the quicker the river flows making you move faster and difficult to avoid the obstacles along the way. The player starts with 3 lives when the river raft slide begins. If you happen to hit an obstacle such as a log you lose a life, lose all your lives and the game starts again. What to watch out for in this game are

  • Branches & Logs- If you hit these along the slide it damages you raft and you lose a life. As well as it causing your raft to drift from its course which subsequently makes it more difficult for you to dodge the oncoming obstacles along your path .
  • Supply bags- These are bags that    " Other Characters " have dropped off their rafts along their way which float.  These can either have food, repair kits or are empty and filled with water instead. This makes it a risk to collect all the supply bags along the way because if you happen to get the bag filled with water that will weigh your raft down causing you to go slower.
  • Alternate Rafts- These are rafts that are empty along the way, Smaller ones are yellow in colour, quick and agile. The orange rafts are larger and will slow your pace but they will also give you an extra life on top of the 3 you start with.
The game will be controlled with the arrow keys on a PC and On a Mobile device it will be controlled with swipes. Space bar will control the character and it allows the player to jump from their raft to another if they wish to do so.

The longer you stay in the game the harder it gets. The surrounding environment will change to make it more challenging for example It can start to rain which makes the river course difficult to manoeuvre.

The game will last for 3 rounds. the first round the environment will be sunny and dry as you race down the river slide, the second round the weather will become harsher and cloudy with rough winds that can blow you off course and the third round is the hardest and that is when it starts to rain  which makes the course even more challenging. You will know you have passed the first round when you see a log bridge in your way and the player then has to successfully jump over it. However if the play fails to execute their jump in time they lose a life and continue the river course but now that log bridge is close behind them as it becomes loose and starts to flow along with the river. This makes the game more challenging cos now the player has to avoid an obstacle behind them as well as the oncoming obstacles.

The overall game will last around one minute to get through all three rounds.  This game is designed for early teens onwards. I feel children would struggle with this game  but I could be wrong kids are very techy nowadays.   This game will help the players hand eye coordination as it relies on them having quick reflexes to be able to avoid the obstacles along the course of this game.

I feel this game is a great balance between challenging and fun. You would need to concentrate a lot while playing but at the same time it is quite fun to play and the thrill of having to survive through all the obstacles makes it better.

Initially this game will be launched on a PC and if it is successful then there will be further plans to have it available on a Mobile device.

Here is some concept art for how the game will begin.

  1. This game looks so fun! I can see that you put a lot of thought in designing the game, which is really good because from the design it looks entertaining and challenging. I like challenging games especially these kind of games where I have to concentrate to avoid obstacles. Can't wait to see the result and actually play it. Good Luck!

  2. Hey Iqrah i love your idea for your game, I remember I used to play something similar to your game on the wii! I can tell you put a lot of care into the game's design, which is great because it appears to be both entertaining and tough. Have you considered adding dangerous fishes like Puranas that could damage the boat ? or even kill your player. Are you considering adding vibrant colours ?
I also think adding fun and upbeat music will make the game enjoyable for the player.
I really love the direction you're heading in with this game, I cant wait to see the final product and play it.
    goodluck !

  3. Hi Iqrah. That's such a good idea for a game. I remember there was something similar (not exactly similar) on Wii Fit (I never had Wii fit, but I know some of the games). Suggesting that the game will get harder as the game goes along is a useful dynamic and goes with Flow Theory. I would definitely include mechanics that will help with your health bar. To make it easier on the player, However I think you have a solid game idea and I cannot wait to play it.
